Book Launch – Anthology “Au Revoir”
Post by Guest Blogger, Jan Wood.
An amazing morning of celebration at our Book Launch of this year’s Anthology, “Au Revoir”. Seventeen members of Women Writers Queensland contributed a short story to create a plethora of short stories in many genres. A successful Book Launch, held on Octobr 14th, at the Brisbane Square Library, was enjoyed by all our members.
Fiona Stager, owner of Avid Reader, was invited to our book launch. An icon in the book industry, local identity in West End and a wonderful speaker, Fiona launched our annual anthology with gusto and enthusiasm.

A Fabulous Atmosphere at our Book Launch
The members embraced the energy of the book launch, creating a great morning of fun and enjoyment as they engaged with members in person, and those who had joined us online from all rural Queensland.

Our Annual Anthology
Our annual anthology is important in the Women Writers Queensland calendar, and allows members to see their short story published, sometimes for the first time. Our anthology project also gives members the opportunity to grow their writing skills through the organisation’s Work in Progress groups, an important part of Women Writers Queensland. The Work in Progress groups were formed to support our members’ writing journeys, to develop the writing craft of each member and most importantly, to bring our members, both local and rural, together to share their ideas, thoughts and friendship. Our anthology, Au Revoir, achieved all these goals and more.

Writing can be a lonely pursuit, but our anthology brings our members together with a common goal to write a short story for our book.
Morning tea followed the book launch, allowing all our members to network and enjoy each other’s company.
A successful book launch, one may ask? I’ll leave that for you to decide.
